Living, Dining and Family Room Makeovers:
Use what you have in new ways
It's important that living, dining and family rooms feel warm and inviting— whether you're trying to sell your home or decorating it to live in.

Dramatic and inexpensive transformations are often possible just by moving furniture and accessories, reducing clutter and changing the wall color.

Don't wait until you are decorating your house to sell, to make these simple changes. You can have more enjoyment from your home starting right now!

After all, it's your HOME, it should be your refuge at the end of a long day, the place you feel relaxed, comfortable and able to be yourself!

Drab family room has no warmth Family room makeover looks inviting
This family room looked cold and uninviting (above, left) but was redecorated using items from other rooms in the home (above, right).
Family room dumping ground Rental furniture for home staging
This family room became an almost unusable dumping ground for clutter (above, left) but was transformed into an eating area with rented furniture when the house was put on the market (above, right). The look is a bit sparse for everyday living, but provides a non-distracting environment for home buyers. The house sold for $21,000 over asking within days.

Removing clutter and mismatched furniture were a big help in this living room. Small details like flowers and rearranging art can also make a difference.
